Sound Progression is managed by a Director, Company Manager and a well-informed board who have a breathe of knowledge and offer high level expertise in community engagement, youth provision, education, politics, inclusive practice, arts and business.
Paul Lyons -Director
Paul is one of Wales most respected DJ’s and an award winning music producer. He played an important role in the birth of South Wales’ club culture and opened Cardiff’s first dance music shop ‘Looney Tunes’ and Dance Label ‘Hazardous Vinyl’. He currently owns two dance music labels and regularly produces music for the UK dance charts. Paul has worked for the Youth Service for over ten years and has vast experience working with young people.
Carole Blade – Company Manager
Carole started her career as a dancer and later become an arts manager and producer. Between 1997-2011 she was the Artistic Co-ordinator for the national umbrella organisation, Welsh Independent Dance, and in 2012 she led the Creative Producer for Dance in Wales programme where she was responsible for designing, delivering and managing the programme till 2017. Carole achieved a Masters in Arts Management in 2019 and is excited to be crossing over into the music industry and working with Sound Progression.
Mike Johnson – Chair
Mike opened Channel View Leisure Centre back in the ’80s and helped establish IMMTECH, one of the first computer- music- training organisations in Wales. Mike took on The Coal Exchange, which became one of Wales’s premiere venues, also variously managing The Point and Tramshed. A life-long songwriter, Mikes passion for music across all genres, he sees his involvement with Sound Progression as an opportunity to repay a little of what he has gained from music.
